That is the best thing ever. God bless that man.
I was so excited when I saw this come on last night! It’s great that he ran with the whole thing and brought it back for another round.
Awesome! FWIW, I’ve been following the Lessig/ Colbert interview and subsequent related news and then posting about it on my law library’s blog (Novalawcity). I’m also currently reading “Remix” which I am enjoying immensely.
Kudos, Professor Lessig! 🙂
Best,
Stephanie
Looks like the audio for that video was remixed by Chris Lewis over at Indaba Music. http://www.indabamusic.com/sessions/indaba/68873
So awesome that this is heading into round 2. Congrats to you Mr. Lessig for making this a topic of discussion among many!
Congratulations Larry! I have a feeling remixing just moved up a couple notches on the ladder of public awareness!
Oh, hilarious! And kudos to Lessig and Colbert for bringing this to the public!
Video not available in Canada. I guess we’re on a different Internet 🙁
Cool; probably get more accomplished with this Colbert foray than you’ve gotten done with ten years of grinding the legal minutia and the political quagmire.
Well done sir, and well done to all.
Congratulation!!
Any PR is PR. for you both guys…the Remixes are great…nothing can stop real culture…thx for all your work!
Max from Berlin
lol a friend and i were watching that last night. colbert had to do something after there were so many good remixes.
Now I’m mad, because Com. Central won’t let me (a Canadian) watch that unless I find the video somehow on the Comedy Network website instead!
Is there any way to watch this from canada?

I wonder how long it will take for media companies to really *get* the Internet. Region restrictions are so 20th century,
For all the Canadians, here’s a link to a more shareable version of the video.
Colbert-Lessig Remix Challenge
@jorel314 Internet Archives Error page? Is this a joke?

Thanks for the Canadian link, but it is giving me an error.
Lawrence: Can you please switch to something more international friendly, like YouTube? Com. Central is blocking us people up in Canada
hmm.. I wonder why internet archive took it down. Copyright issues probably. It was working for me when I uploaded it.
Here’s another copy using my dropbox.

@jorel314 Thanks!
always a pleasure to see such a hot button issue, namely copyrights and remix rights, be featured not only once, but somewhat regularly on a very popular television show. bravo!
Nice remix! Funny that during the original interview Larry gave permission and Steven did not. Wonder why only Steven is in this remix. 😉
The reason they don’t allow Canadians is because they don’t have the rights to air that material in Canada, CTV does. They would be breaking the law if you were to watch it. Sorry, complain to CTV that you are unable to watch it. It is a Canadian problem, not Comedy Central or Viacom’s fault.

Visit that site if you live in Canada for a legal way of gaining access to the Colbert Report. I enjoy the Colbert Report and would prefer you use legal means of accessing it as to keep the show alive.
Good lord I love that man at times. He plainly sees & understands the importance of the issue
Hehe, great one, Larry.
That was the most painfully funny thing possibly ever. Thank you for the egg that egged him on.
I am spreading this near and far. What a fun way to get the message out and inform. I am just getting into remixing and so I am using these challenges to learn and spread the word. Creative minds can go where others cannot. Kudos and keep up the great work ‘Win>Win>Wins in so many different areas. Here is one of my remixes. indaba, indaba, hmmm, indaba. i missed that one. can anyone provide me with a useful link to discussions about indabamusic.com?
thank you.
.~.
I love that every time I see it. 🙂
Remixing is okay. …I say it…..Stephen Colbert….. 🙂
While I love Colbert, there are a lot of smaller media outlets doing the Remix thing, and not just soundbytes…
For those looking for more discussion on the book, this was an interesting take with more opportunities to Remix outside of video clips and participate here… Their review brings up a few valid points and it’s nice to hear something besides the usual “Loved it/Hated it” that some media gives…

Larry mentioned that origianally he wanted to discuss the subject of corruption (not remixing), but Colbert did not allow it. Did Colbert explain why?
Please weigh in with a blog post about the breaking Shephard Fairey – AP Photo – HOPE Poster dust up. As soon as I saw this, I thought about you.
Surely the HOPE poster knits a silk purse out of a rather humdrum photo and becomes more than the sum of it’s parts? Surely?! Would anyone deny the world HOPE posters for the sake of AP News photos? Is this just a matter of finance and royalties? If we put royalties first, we’ll lose HOPE posters. Lose HOPE, quite literally.
