the East, when I was in San Jose April 1 working on Opening E-Voting, I introduced myself to people as
working on a story for O’Reilly Media. People gave me these
looks, until I added, “You know–the respected technical
publisher.”

So, the party will be in the Bay Area? Oddly enough, I can make that on
my way back from OSCON this year–how excellent!

But, honestly, it’s got built-in limits. Not to disrespect their intrinsic merits, but, *functionally*, those books are in a large part marketing brochures for their authors. That doesn’t scale (down, in this case, not up).

Now if only the music industry would get a clue.
