Carl Malamud has launched — and we all should support — a campaign to become head of the GPO. I can’t imagine a more exciting appointment. Sometimes an agency needs STASIS. Sometimes it needs CHANGE. Gov’t tech is certainly in the second category, and no one I know of could more effectively deliver on the commitment to open government than he.

Re: Carl Malamud
Aye!
@Tom
give the computer-illiterate a break
Plus his mistakes are telling everyone that I am too computer illiterate to run a blog – typical for a lawyer – and anyone who believes me (or any lawyer or politician) a fool or a youth and serve to illustrate the limits of judges.
Sad to think that people like Lessig are proving Nixon’s attacks on elite lawyers true.
The spamming is obnoxious.
GPO = Government Printing Office (guess from [email protected])? Be forbearing to your international readers, please.
@Tom: Get a secure browser.
I endorse Carl Malamud for head of GPO.

Careful. You only think you know better. I assure you, you don’t.

Professor Lessig is the one who /writes/ this blog. I’m the one who maintains it. Any criticism related to the technical details of this blog should be directed towards me. That said, let it be noted that neither Professor Lessig nor I use IE on a regular basis and therefore rely on reports like Tom’s to keep the site up to snuff as far as cross-browser consistency is concerned. Up until now I haven’t received any notification — either direct or via proxy — related to this problem. As such, this is the first I’ve learned of it. Will get it fixed now.
In the mean time, grow up. Anybody who feels the need to make personal attacks on someone using material that is completely unrelated to that persons primary area of focus and expertise is doing so using child-like tactics based primarily on personal insecurities. Are you really that insecure with yourself that you have to resort to the equivalent of name calling as the basis of your arguments against Professor Lessig’s content? Seriously. Grow up!

This is the first I’ve heard of this particular issue. Fixing it now. Thanks for the report!
@Tom:
I’ve removed the widget for now while I figure out the issue with IE. I can’t tell from your screen shot which version of IE you’re using. Is this specific to IE6 or are you seeing this in IE7 and/or IE8?
@M. David Peterson:
Thanks you. And thanks for keeping the website in shape too.
As for you IE folks:
Just download and install Firefox or Opera. They’re free. You won’t regret it. 🙂
@Rick:
No problem 🙂 I only wish I would have discovered this issue sooner!
Thanks for the thanks! 🙂
I endorse Carl. About time we had some governmental transparency.
