Here’s a better process: let the congresscritters pick some small percentage of the budget, say something less than 1%. Whatever that number is, gave half to each part of congress, divide each portion again by 100 (sentate) and 435 (house), and assign that amount of money to each critter to use in earmarks. This gives something to those who say representatives have an ear for local needs. It also puts a cap on the amount of money wasted, giving something else to those who abhor the practice.

A narrow spectrum pesticide in VERY low concentrations instead of WIDE spectrum (including us) pesticides in LARGE concentrations… seems like a good idea.

This is my favorite post of hers regarding the anti pheromone movement:

Remember that hydrogen monoxide is a very lethal chemical. VERY.

They’re young (or at least inexperienced), passionate about government reforms and strive out to make a difference, swinging at anything that’s near the plate. Unfortunately, you never get enough in place at once to make much of a difference before they become jaded, get run out of office by someone with more money or just get tired of butting heads with the establishment.

So, good for Ms. Speier. May she have the longevity to achieve her convictions, and may her ideals stay idealistic.

again lessig, you’re blind to the larger issues. Obama has abandoned campaign finance reform and will vote for the FISA/Warrantless wiretapping sellout.

Impeachment, ie: RULE OF LAW is the only remaining issue for this country.

if RULE OF LAW is not restored, you can have all the creative commons and public financing you want in a lawless country where the citizens lack the right to habeas corpus and are regularly disappeared…
