updates to p2p-politics

So lots of great reaction to p2p-politics.org today, and we’ve modified in response. In particular:

(1) We’ve changed “Nader” to “Other” so as to encourage other (actually more prominent) candidates to be included without adding too many tabs;

(2) Adding a comment link to each ad, so if you have a view about an ad you’d like to express, there’s a wiki page to do it;

(3) Adding the option to upload audio as well as video;

(4) Adding RSS/Atom feeds, so you can subscribe to new content.

Still no response from the Bush campaign. And of course, throughout, “we” here means the tech sorts, and today, that meant Aaron.

  1. Ryan says:

    A minor complaint: I would rather see the tabs delineating each candidate rather than an “Other” tab. That way, at least that way we can pretend we have a choice outside of the mainstream.

    Thanks.

  2. Mark Tearle says:

    Another thing that struck me is that this thing is currently entirely US centric … it would be a great thing if there was something similar for other countries.

    Building on Ryan’s comment: It’s interesting that the “Game Over, Bush” movie (currently at the top of the list of movies) doesn’t actually mention Kerry but the movie is listed under “Ads supporting John Kerry”.

    I suppose one is meant to infer that a message against Bush is automatically a message for Kerry. As another poster said in the other thread discussing p2p-politics, some alternative candidates are on the ballot in enough states to win the presidency (I understand that they are polling too low to be likely to do this).

    I appreciate the difficulties in choosing a video format. Quicktime is very friendly for Maccies, less so for others. But what about cross-platform Flash? I’ve got a Flash ad I’m working on that I would love to upload….

    I’m sorry, here is Nader’s in-depth interview as links: audio, transcript, and various audio/video formats.
