Kim Scarborough sent this (warning: large mp3) wonderful radio show from the Columbia Workshop in 1937 about characters leaving the “copyright lane” for the “public domain.” It is a brilliantly complex and funny tale that reveals an understanding about the value of the public domain that would be hard to recognize today.

    I host a radio show on copyright, patent, and Free Software issues called “Digital Citizen” on WEFT 90.1 FM Champaign (2a-6a Wednesdays, I’m hoping to get a better timeslot in August). I thought this recording was delightful. I’m very impressed. I too would like to know how Kim came across this.

    I’d like to know if that radio program is itself in the Public Domain. How do I find out? I’d like to make a Zip file of it available from my website.
