The Pan FAQs

We’ve posted a page on the Emily Somma Peter Pan case with a FAQ about the case. There’s a link at the end of the FAQ with a suggestion for more questions. I’d be grateful for any suggestions, about new questions or old.

One question has still not been answered: why does the complaint (#60) state a life-plus-fifty basis for the expiration of copyright in early Peter Pan works in the U.S. (where the suit is being brought), when the copyright in the U.S. of these early works is governed by 17 U.S.C. #8, and/or by the 28+28 term of the 1909 act, and (possibly in the case of some works over which the parties are in dispute) by the Ninth Circuit’s ridiculous “Bambi” decision regarding foreign works ?

It shouldn’t. That was a mistake that was not removed. It has been in an amended complaint that we have filed. Should be posted soon.
