  1. Miguel Vasquez MD says:

    Dear Dr Lessig

Thank you for your radio interview (Hewitt).

Please permit a datum on the phenom of “recruitment”. I’ve worked for 26 yrs pro-bono on public health projects in Latin America. After 9/11, our military campaigns into Afghanistan and Iraq yielded an unexpected (to me) outcome among young men (18-35) I encountered there. They joined teams double-flagged as both their home country and ours (USA). Some work there, some here, and some in third nations – as resistance fighters against jihadists and/or drug hierarchies.

I have no data on what triggered this, and a theory plus a nickel doesn’t make a phone call. The point is our wars in Afghanistan and Iraq have recruited in both directions. Recruitment is parochial. Amongst those who value military valor and competence, recruitment is positively charged.

    Sincerely,

    M. Vasquez MD, (also of Univ of Chicago, 1/2 generation prior to you)

    Dear Lawrence,
I’m sad to see, that so-far, there is no complete video of your keynote address given at the Netroots Nation 2008. Is there any way or anywhere for me to see your COMPLETE speech on the web?

The whole keynote can be seen @ http://www.ustream.tv/recorded/569339.

Not the greatest quality but still good.
